50 Free Summer Concerts at the Levitt Pavilion in MacArthur Park

Councilmember Reyes recently joined the Westlake community and Friends of the Levitt Pavilion to kick off 50 free summer concerts at Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts at MacArthur Park.
The concert season, which runs through September 13, features internationally-acclaimed musicians and artists performing at five shows each week. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Sunday concerts will feature children's entertainment and begin at 6:30 p.m.

Los Angeles River Community Workshops TODAY

Councilmember Reyes invites you to share your visions for the L.A. River revitalization at workshops TODAY, Tuesday, July 28, at the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens in Cypress Park.

The workshops are designed to provide you with updates on Los Angeles River revitalization projects, and to gather input for future L.A. River plans in anticipation of $25 million in federal support. To accommodate diverse schedules, two duplicate meetings will be held on the same day—one in the afternoon and one in the evening.

WHAT: Councilmember Reyes invites you tonight to join him tonight and the non-profit, Friends of the Levitt Pavilion, to kick off the first of 50 free summer concerts at the restored band shell in MacArthur Park.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 8, 6:30 p.m.

Near the intersection of W. 6th Street & S. Park View Street, across from the Park Plaza Hotel.

WHY: The 2009 summer concert season runs five nights a week, Wednesday to Sunday, from July 8 to September 13 in MacArthur Park, near downtown Los Angeles.

Since 2006, the 10-week season has featured acclaimed professional musicians and diverse performing artists from around the world. Last year’s concert series drew more than 34,000 to the band shell.

“We’re building off last year’s success with another summer at MacArthur Park filled with music and dance for families and friends to enjoy,” said Councilmember Reyes.

Friends of the Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park is a non-profit organization which produces 50 concerts every summer presenting professional, culturally diverse entertainment for all ages, free of charge. In partnership with the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, The Friends restored the historic band shell at MacArthur Park which is now a beautiful venue to present dynamic performances celebrating music from around the world.
