Reyes, Levitt Friends Kick Off 50 Free Concerts at MacArthur Park TONIGHT

Reyes, Levitt Friends Bring Music Back to MacArthur Park— Councilmember, community kick off 3rd season of 50 free concerts at restored bandshell

WHAT: Councilmember Reyes invites you tonight to join him tonight and the non-profit, Friends of the Levitt Pavilion, to kick off the first of 50 free summer concerts at the restored band shell in MacArthur Park.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 8, 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Levitt Pavilion at MacArthur Park band shell
Near the intersection of W. 6th Street & S. Park View Street, across from the Park Plaza Hotel.

WHY: The 2009 summer concert season runs five nights a week, Wednesday to Sunday, from July 8 to September 13 in MacArthur Park, near downtown Los Angeles.

Since 2006, the 10-week season has featured acclaimed professional musicians and diverse performing artists from around the world. Last year’s concert series drew more than 34,000 to the band shell.

“We’re building off last year’s success with another summer at MacArthur Park filled with music and dance for families and friends to enjoy,” said Councilmember Reyes.

Friends of the Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park is a non-profit organization which produces 50 concerts every summer presenting professional, culturally diverse entertainment for all ages, free of charge. In partnership with the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks, The Friends restored the historic band shell at MacArthur Park which is now a beautiful venue to present dynamic performances celebrating music from around the world.
