Lincoln Heights Youth Get Dodgers Dream Field

Before a cheering crowd of children and parents, Councilmember Reyes broke ground Saturday on a dream field for the Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club in Lincoln Heights. The baseball field, the first major renovation at the club since 1950, is made possible through a partnership with the Dodgers Dream Foundation, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bank of America and anonymous private donors. Thanks to these supporters, the youth of Lincoln Heights and surrounding communities will get to play ball on a new baseball diamond equipped with modern amenities. Reyes was joined by Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt, Dodgers Hitting Coach Don Mattingly, Dodgers first baseman James Loney, community leaders and families.

The Boys & Girls Club, at 2635 Pasadena Ave., will be renovated with a new grass infield, warning track, chain-link backstop, dugouts, side fencing, irrigation system and environmentally-friendly Musco lighting to replace older fixtures.
